From The Editor

Hello fellow difference-makers,

Gee -- who'd have thought our politicians would start ratcheting up their rhetoric and leaks at this time of year? With elections only weeks away, an unusual new twist is that even elected and unelected officials from other countries, friend and foe, are getting into the mix. After being dumbfounded that he was on the show's schedule, I have to admit that I was absolutely charmed by an articulate and forthright Pervez Musharraf on the Daily Show this week. Who'd have thunk it? I think I agreed with everything the power-grabbing general said! Hey – a guy's gotta hawk his book… If you missed it, click here.

On the other side of Manhattan Island a week earlier, we all were treated to a somewhat less inspired, but no less curious appearance by Venezuala's elected leader, Hugo Chavez at the United Nations, wherein he called George W. Bush the Devil and said that our elected leader left a lingering odor of sulpher at the podium from his appearance there a day earlier. While I'm not sure that particular passage helped anything much, Chavez did get a lot of attention for recommending that the American people read Noam Chomsky to realize that "the threat is in their own house." Okay, here, I have to say that I agree with this recommendation! (In case you missed the speech, click here.

Therefore, the Editor's Pick this month is NOAM CHOMSKY: IMPERIAL GRAND STRATEGY, the riveting, brand new compilation of two Noam Chomsky lectures and a 45 minute interview with the scholar. It's required viewing in these times!
